FIA blank contaminations

FIA blank contaminations

The contaminations could be eluting from the autosampler. To reduce the contaminations in the FIA blank injections, perform the following procedure:

  1. Install strong wash (equal parts MeOH:ACN:Water:IsoPropanol) on the FIA line and flush for 20 min at 0.5 mL/min
  2. Transfer the wash solvent into an autosampler vial.
  3. Perform 30 injections using the FIA acquisition method (for example FIA1 method).
  4. Perform at least 3 blank injections with the FIA mobile phase using FIA1 method.
  5. If the blank still looks elevated, try replacing the tubing between the column oven and source.
  6. Clean the curtain plate and replace the ESI capillary.
  7. Repeat the blank injections with the FIA mobile phase using FIA1 method.
